During a roadshow held in Hubballi, Karnataka on Thursday, a young man broke through a barricade and made his way toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s car to present him with a garland. The police stated that there was no compromise on PM Modi’s security. However, sources have indicated that the individual was permitted by the Prime Minister himself to give the garland.
Footage from the roadshow depicts a young man running towards PM Modi’s convoy, holding a garland aloft. The police and traffic officers on duty quickly restrained the man. PM Modi can be seen extending his hand to take the garland, as security officials accompanying him took hold of the garland and presented it to the Prime Minister.
According to sources, the entire stretch of the road where the incident occurred was secured by the Special Protection Group (SPG) and PM Modi had permitted the young man to present him with the garland. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Karnataka to inaugurate the National Youth Festival in honor of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
