Bharat Jodo Yatra Was Against Those Spreading Hatred

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a rally in Hubbali, Karnataka on Saturday, accusing the party of being perturbed by the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was carried out against those “spreading hatred.”

Gandhi said that people who spread hate can never bring development to Karnataka and that the BJP thinks democratic principles are in their pockets. The former Congress president added that without getting rid of the “atmosphere created by the loot, lies, arrogance, and hatred of BJP government,” neither Karnataka nor the country can progress.

The Congress party is hoping to return to power in the southern state, which has strong leadership in the form of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. A victory in Karnataka would bolster Congress’ efforts to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024 as a fulcrum of opposition unity. The Karnataka assembly elections will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 13.
