n September 2, 2024, the Supreme Court strongly criticized the practice of bulldozing homes and private properties of individuals accused of crimes, as well as their relatives, by state authorities. The Court emphasized that such actions are not supported by law, even in cases where the accused are convicted. Justice B.R. Gavai, leading the Bench alongside Justice K.V. Viswanathan, questioned the legality of demolishing family shelters, highlighting that the law does not condone this form of retribution. The Court proposed the creation of uniform, pan-India guidelines to address this issue.
