Three youths from Goraya, Bilga, and Kirpalpur village near Phagwara, who were deported from the United States, were received by the police at Amritsar airport late Saturday night. They were escorted back to their residences by the police and handed over to their families early Sunday morning.
SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh reported that a team from Phillaur Police handed over Pardeep Bassi, a resident of Goraya, to his mother. Upon visiting Pardeep’s house in New Market Goraya, it was found locked. Social activist MP Singh Goraya mentioned to The Tribune that Pardeep lived with his widowed mother, Surinder Kaur, as his brother was settled in Canada. He added that Pardeep had gone to the USA after paying Rs 45 lakh to a travel agent a few months ago and was apprehended near Mexico while crossing the border.
The SSP also mentioned that another deported youth, Amit Badhan, was brought from Amritsar airport and handed over to his family in Bilga (Phillaur) on Sunday morning. In Phagwara, SSP Gaurav Toora stated that the Satnampura Police team brought another deported youth, Ankush Kailey, from Amritsar airport and handed him over to his family in Kirpalpur village near Phagwara on Sunday morning.
Upon visiting Ankush’s residence, his father, Hans Raj, a laborer, did not disclose the procedure used to send his son abroad. He only mentioned that a close relative had made arrangements to send his son to the USA. Phagwara SP Rupinder Bhatti stated that further investigation is ongoing.
