Congress Backs Partap Singh Bajwa, Accuses AAP Government of Intimidation in Punjab Bomb Threat Row

Congress Unites Behind Bajwa, Slams AAP Government Over Punjab Bomb Threat Revelations

Chandigarh: In a show of unity, Congress MPs, MLAs, and senior leaders rallied behind Punjab Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of trying to silence and intimidate him for raising critical security concerns.

The political row intensified after Bajwa, in a televised interview, claimed that 50 bombs had reached Punjab, with 18 already detonated and 32 still unaccounted for. His statement sparked a wave of reactions across the political spectrum.

However, Congress leaders defended Bajwa, stating that his claims were not new, but rather a reiteration of facts already reported by the media. They cited a string of recent violent incidents in Punjab, including over 20 grenade attacks targeting police stations, religious places, and even the residence of a senior BJP leader. Vandalism of Baba Saheb Ambedkar statues was also highlighted as evidence of the deteriorating law and order situation.

In a joint statement led by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the party condemned what it described as the “high-handed approach” of the AAP government and its efforts to frame Bajwa instead of addressing the actual security threats.

“The threat to peace and communal harmony in Punjab is very real,” the statement read. “Instead of focusing on restoring order, the AAP government is trying to divert attention and suppress voices of dissent.”

Congress leaders asserted that their party will not be cowed by intimidation and will continue to hold the government accountable for its failures in maintaining law and order in the state.

The controversy comes at a time of heightened political tension in Punjab, where security concerns are once again becoming a dominant issue amid growing public unease.
