PIB Clarifies Viral Drone Attack Video in Jalandhar is Fake, Shows Old Farm Fire and Beirut Blast
Amid rising tensions and fears of conflict, a viral video claiming to depict a drone strike in Jalandhar has been proven false by the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit. The misleading footage, circulated widely on social media, showed dramatic visuals of an explosion that users alleged was linked to recent Pakistani drone activity in Punjab.
However, PIB Fact Check promptly intervened, posting on X (formerly Twitter) that the video is not connected to the recent military events. “This drone strike video from #Jalandhar is widely circulating on social media. #PIBFactCheck: This is an unrelated video of a farm fire,” read the official tweet.

The video included a timestamp of 7:39 PM, which PIB noted occurred before any confirmed drone activity or blackout protocols were enforced in Jalandhar or nearby districts. Authorities emphasized that this timing discrepancy is crucial in disproving the video’s authenticity.
In addition, PIB identified another clip spreading online as entirely unrelated to current India-Pakistan tensions. This particular footage was actually from the massive 2020 explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
The swift clarification by PIB comes as misinformation and fake news continue to spread rapidly amid real reports of cross-border hostilities. The government urges citizens to verify content before sharing and to rely on credible sources for updates during national security incidents.
