New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to hold his first press conference today after being disqualified from the Lok Sabha. The press conference is scheduled for 1 pm. Gandhi lost his MP status after a Gujarat court found him guilty in a criminal defamation case and sentenced him to two years in jail on Thursday.
In his first comments after disqualification, the former Wayanad MP stated that he is willing to pay any price for fighting for the voice of India. The Wayanad seat also fell vacant after his disqualification. Gandhi was found guilty of defamation for a 2019 campaign trail remark implying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a criminal.
However, the Surat court granted him bail for 30 days to let him appeal the decision. Gandhi tweeted a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, stating that truth is his God and non-violence is the means to achieve it.
