Rajnath Singh Pledges “Befitting Reply” to Enemies After Pahalgam Terror Attack
New Delhi, May 1, 2025:
Following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has declared a firm stance, promising a “befitting reply” to those threatening India’s security.
Amid mounting tensions with Pakistan, which India accuses of having cross-border links to the terrorists, Mr. Singh stated that defending the nation is his foremost duty.
“As the Defence Minister, it is my responsibility to work with my soldiers and ensure the protection of the country’s borders. I promise, we will respond strongly to anyone who casts an evil eye on India,” said Singh at an event in Delhi.
He assured citizens that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, decisive action will be taken.
“People know the PM’s work style—his determination and willingness to take bold risks,” Singh emphasized.
India has already taken several retaliatory steps including suspending Pakistani visas and putting a hold on the Indus Waters Treaty. These measures aim to isolate Pakistan for its continued support of terror activities against Indian civilians and forces.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) have increased in the past few days. Indian forces have responded with precision firepower.
Historically, India has shown its readiness to retaliate:
- In 2016, India launched surgical strikes across the LoC after the Uri attack.
- In 2019, an airstrike on Balakot targeted terror camps after 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred in Pulwama.
India’s response to the Pahalgam attack could follow similar decisive military strategies if provocations continue.
