Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia did not appear before the Khar police in Mumbai on Friday, despite a second summons regarding ‘insensitive and vulgar’ jokes made during the recent ‘India’s Got Latent’ show.

A police officer confirmed to The Indian Express that Allahbadia was scheduled to visit the Khar police station on Thursday. When he failed to show up, his team assured the police that he would come on Friday. However, he again did not attend the inquiry.

A team from the Khar police station was dispatched to his Versova residence after Allahbadia’s second no-show. Assam Police, also investigating a criminal complaint against Allahbadia, accompanied the Khar police team. They found Allahbadia’s residence locked and pasted a notice outside, demanding his appearance soon.

Following the uproar over the viral clip from ‘India’s Got Latent,’ Assam Police and Maharashtra cyber police registered separate FIRs against Allahbadia, content creator Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, the show’s creator Samay Raina, and others for allegedly producing and broadcasting obscene content on YouTube.

The Khar police launched an inquiry after multiple complaints. So far, they have summoned the five judges of the show, including Allahbadia and Raina, and recorded statements from over a dozen individuals, including Chanchlani and Mukhija.

Maharashtra cyber police have summoned nearly 59 people, including all judges, participants, and others involved in episodes where foul language was used. On Thursday, only Raghu Ram responded to the summons, and his statement was recorded.

Allahbadia has apologized for his ‘insensitive joke’ via a video on social media platforms.

Raina also announced on social media that he has removed all episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from YouTube and will fully cooperate with the agencies. According to his legal team, Raina is currently in the US and will return to India by February 17 to join the probe.
