On September 2, Indian equity markets closed on a positive note, with the Nifty surpassing the 25,250 mark, driven by strong performances in the IT, FMCG, and banking sectors. The Sensex rose by 194.07 points or 0.24% to close at 82,559.84, while the Nifty gained 42.80 points or 0.17%, ending at 25,278.70.
Top gainers on the Nifty included Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotoCorp. Conversely, Grasim Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Adani Enterprises, Coal India, and Nestle India were among the top losers.
While banking, FMCG, and IT sectors closed in the green, other sectoral indices such as capital goods, metal, healthcare, telecom, and media saw declines of 0.4-1.6%. The BSE midcap index remained flat, and the smallcap index dipped by 0.5%.
