India Reports 1,249 New Covid Cases, Active Infections Reach 7,927 with 1 Death Each Reported by Karnataka and Gujarat As per the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 1,249 new cases of coronavirus, increasing the active cases to 7,927. The death toll due to Covid-19 increased to 5,30,818, with one death each reported by Karnataka and Gujarat.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.19%, and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 1.14%. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country reached 4,47,00,667. The active cases now comprise 0.02% of the total infections, while the Covid recovery rate stands at 98.79%. Over 1,05,316 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of tests to 92.07 crores. The number of recoveries has surged to 4,41,61,922, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19%.
The health ministry has informed that over 220 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far. India recorded a single-day rise of 1,300 new Covid cases on Thursday, the highest in 140 days. In response to the spike in the number of cases, PM Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Covid-19 and influenza to review the country’s preparedness.
