Pro-Khalistan Protests at Indian Mission in London Prompts UK Foreign Secretary to Request Police Security Review

The United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has pledged to review security at the Indian High Commission in London after around 2,000 Khalistan supporters staged protests outside the building.

Cleverly called the acts of violence towards staff at the Indian High Commission “unacceptable” and said that he has made the UK’s position clear to the High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami.

The UK is working with the Metropolitan Police to review security at the Indian High Commission and will make changes to ensure staff safety, Cleverly said. He stressed that relations between the UK and India are thriving, and vowed to prevent and respond robustly to incidents such as this.
