India’s Covid Cases Reach 1,300, the Highest in 140 Days

India records 1,300 new Covid cases, highest in 140 days with 3 reported deaths On Thursday, India reported a single-day increase of 1,300 new Covid cases, marking the highest surge in 140 days. The active cases have also risen to 7,605, according to Health Ministry data cited by the news agency PTI.

The total tally of Covid-19 cases in India has now reached 4.46 crore (4,46,99, 418). Meanwhile, the death toll inched up to 5,30,816 with three reported deaths – one each being reported by Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The national recovery rate stood at 98.79% with the number of recoveries surging to 4,41,60,997. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.46%, while the weekly positivity was pegged at 1.08%.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the need to follow Covid-appropriate behavior, lab surveillance, genome testing, and testing of all Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases. The Health Ministry’s website states that 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered to the citizens.
