On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the residence of former Union Minister Sharad Yadav to pay his respects. He stated that he had learned a lot about politics from the veteran politician. Sharad Yadav, who was 75 years old, passed away on Thursday in a private hospital in Gurugram. He leaves behind his wife, a daughter, and a son.
The veteran socialist leader had been battling kidney-related issues for an extended period and underwent regular dialysis. Rahul Gandhi visited Sharad Yadav’s residence and was seen consoling his family members. He spoke to reporters and recounted his first interaction with Sharad Yadav during a car journey, which marked the start of their relationship. He acknowledged that Sharad Yadav was an opposition leader and had political differences with his grandmother Indira Gandhi, but despite that, they shared a relationship of respect and affection.
Rahul Gandhi said that Sharad Yadav never lost the respect of others, which is a significant accomplishment in politics. “Sharad Yadav ji was a person of humble nature and a leader of socialism. I have learned a lot from him. I express my deepest condolences to his bereaved family members. His contribution to the country will always be remembered,” he said in a tweet in Hindi on Friday.
Mr. Gandhi, who is currently on the Bharat Jodo Yatra, made a stop in Delhi from Punjab where the yatra is taking a break day on Friday.
